10 Month Photos for a Braintree, MA Family of Four
Ten months is such a fun age to photograph. Babies are full of personality at this stage, with lots of expressions, movement, and interaction with the people they love. For Mr. A’s 10 month baby photography session, his family traveled from Braintree, MA to my Andover studio for a relaxed session that included both individual portraits and plenty of time with his three year old big sister, Miss S. I had previously photographed Mom’s maternity session, so it was especially meaningful to see their family again with Mr. A now almost a year old.
What Do You Photograph During a 10-Month Session?
A 10 month session can include much more than portraits of the baby alone. I photographed Mr. A individually, but also had plenty of time for him to interact with Miss S and his parents. At this age, I want to capture both the little details and the personality that is starting to shine through. The session included a mix of simple portraits, sibling images, and family photographs, all with the clean, light and airy style of my Andover studio. Rather than expecting a baby to sit perfectly and smile on cue, I let the session move naturally so we can capture genuine expressions and connections along the way.
Is 10 Months a Good Age for Baby Photos?
Absolutely. This age is right after what we typically call a “sitter session”. Technically that session happens whenever your child is sitting on their own without help. By 10 months many children are already in the “finding mobility” stage, as you can see by Mr. A showing off his crawling and standing skills. While six months and one year have become common ages for milestone photography, there is no reason to wait for a specific birthday if your baby is at a stage you want to remember. At 10 months, Mr. A was still very much a baby, but his personality and relationship with his family were already changing so quickly. These in between stages can be some of the most rewarding to photograph because there is so much happening between the traditional milestones.
