I have been photographing this Cambrige MA family of four since big sister Miss E was 6 months old. Over the years I’ve gotten the chance to watch her grow, watch their family welcome little bro Mr. M, and had so much fun. One thing I really love about the T Family is how much fun they have during their Boston area outdoor family portraits. We’ve met up in parks and at the beach (not to mention my studio), and each session is full of playful and carefree moments.
Candid Family Beach Photos That Capture Real Moments
One thing that I always strive for during family beach photo sessions is to grab those perfect candid shots. As someone who straddles the line between posed and lifestyle family portraits in MA, I always want to give clients both options in their gallery. This session is such a perfect example of that. There are some photos that are posed, with the family looking at the camera and smiling. But there are also plenty of candid shots of parents interacting with their kiddos and moments of true joy.
Sweet Sibling Moments in MA Lifestyle Family Portraits
Before any session, I send out a questionnaire to clients asking everything from styling to ages of children. One very important question I ask in this questionnaire is about the priority when it comes to portrait type. Is your top priority full family photos? Are you looking more for sibling pictures? A 50-50 split? I want to make sure that I am giving my clients exactly what they want. And the easiest way to do that when it comes to fun beach family portraits like these is by knowing ahead of time what is needed.
For this Cambridge MA family photo session, they asked for a 40-60 split on family and sibling photos. Of course I always make sure to grab some solo shots of each child during Boston family portraits, whether in my studio or outdoor. But beyond that, I split my time between full family portraits and the sweet sibling moments. And these two siblings were perfect during this session. Big sis gave baby bro a sweet kiss, they gave me the best smiles, and I grabbed some great candid lifestyle portraits of them playing in the sand and by the ocean. All around a successful session!
