Using Digital Magic to Enhance Santa Claus Photos :: Massachusetts Photographer
One of the many benefits to using a professional studio photographer for your annual Santa Claus photos instead of a Mall Santa is that we can use digital magic to enhance the regular magic of these sessions. I do this in many ways during the editing process of my Santa Claus Experience mini sessions. Whether it’s adding a little extra glowing light to candles and lanterns. Or adding some sparkle and glitter to toys. There are so many different ways to add some digital magic and below are some of my favorite examples. This is the kind of thing that you simply cannot get from your typical Mall Santa photos. And while it might not be the kind of thing everyone wants, it’s something that adds such a special touch to the photos that parents and children alike will love.

Glowing Lights
I love the soft glow from the candles and lanterns. It adds such a cozy warmth and just the teeniest bit of whimsy. Honestly, I’ve had parents not even notice right away that I even added the glowing lights to their photos! The perfect subtle magical touch.
Sparkles
My favorite places to add some sparkle are to the toys. Especially the toy train that has become an absolute staple in these Christmas and Santa mini sessions. Another fave of mine is the little sleigh that children can “ride” on during these photos. Add a little touch of magic, and the photo is complete!
Stars and Stardust
The glowing, glittering stars and stardust are another go-to for me. And there are so many different ways to incorporate it. Sometimes it will be a subtle stardust glitter coming from the magical book that Santa reads. Or a recent addition to the lineup is the sweet little globe that Santa uses to show your little one all the different places he travels to. I love the glittering trails circling the globe. And of course there is the fan favorite star with accompanying stardust. Sometimes Santa will point the star out to your little one. Other times he can make it appear. Either way it is true magic.
Hot Cocoa Steam
Last but certainly not least on my list of digital magic to add to Santa photos is the steam coming from the hot cocoa mugs. Once upon a time I used to have milk and cookies for Santa and your child to share. Now we have switched it to faux hot cocoa. And with some beautiful and whimsical steam added swirling from the mugs, it gives the perfect magically cozy vibes to the adorable photos of Santa clinking hot cocoa mugs with your child.
