Miss M’s Beautiful Rainbow Baby Photos :: Bedford MA Photographer

I first met this awesome family for big brother, Mr. B’s, newborn photos. And since that time I have photographed Mr. B quite a few times. Whether it was a full session, or mini sessions. This family is always first in line when it comes time for Christmas photos!. I was so, so happy to have them back in my studio to celebrate their extra special arrival. Just like any session, I send along a questionnaire full of all sorts of styling questions. Mom told me that Miss M’s nursery was gray and white with a moon and stars theme. So she wanted to bring that into these photos. She also told me that Miss M was her rainbow baby, and she wanted to incorporate that into her newborn photos. I love all the different ways we incorporated the rainbow into these baby photos.

Celebrating a Rainbow Baby

I think many of us have heard the term rainbow baby at this point. But just incase, a rainbow baby is a baby born after a loss, be it miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss. These little ones signify all the hope and happiness that can come after such sadness, just as a rainbow can only come after a storm. I’m not sure when the term officially was coined, but from my research it has been around since at least 2008. Not every parent of a rainbow baby wishes to include this in newborn portraits. But whenever they do, I am more than happy to do so. Be it with a digitally added rainbow, a beautiful rainbow headband that I absolutely adore, or my rainbow of baby swaddles. There are so many ways to celebrate the birth of a rainbow baby with newborn photos.
