Mr. K’s First Birthday and Cake Smash Photos :: Malden MA Photographer
Mr. K from nearby Malden MA was in my studio to celebrate being one with some solo portraits and a cake smash. We started out with some solo photos that used a specific theme that mama was looking for. I loved that she had very clear ideas in mind for what she wanted, and that she was able to share them with me! For the actual smash portion of the session, it was much simpler. Mr. K in an adorable bowtie, surrounded by clear and confetti balloons, with an ombre blue cake. I love that this session truly was able to have both simple and intricate in one. There is so much variety. We got to experience a simple cake smash, some nautical ocean inspired portraits, and a set unlike any I’ve done in the past. I love it all!

An Indigenous Caribbean Inspired Set Design
For this fun Malden MA first birthday and cake smash session, mama had a specific theme in mind. For this session, she was looking for something inspired by the Caribbean. But she was thinking less of the ocean and nautical vibes we may think of when we hear Caribbean. Instead she wanted a lot of nature, greenery, and Indigenous Caribbean inspiration. I absolutely love how these photos turned out! We did also get some separate photos that did have that nautical, ocean inspiration. But for the main portion of the photo session it was all about Mr. K surrounded by foliage, fruits, and Caribbean touches. Including authentic maracas, güiro, and more. Mr. K was beyond adorable in his tan one piece outfit and curls.
This set design was unlike anything I’ve done before. And yet there were so many touches that were similar to other sets. I love when I get to be creative and work closely with clients for a set design!
