Miss E’s 1 Year Baby Photos :: Woburn MA Photographer

I love getting to celebrate first birthdays. So I was super happy to have Miss E and her parents from Woburn in my studio to celebrate her first birthday with some baby photos. I had previously photographed her winter newborn photos, which made it extra special to see this family again. We took lots of family portraits, including some of each parent with Miss E. And then it was all about the birthday girl. She wore a pretty green dress (perfect for the holiday season) during the first portion of the portraits. Then it was a quick outfit change into a dusty purple romper with matching knit hat. I love that this outfit change meant a ton of variety for wall art and prints.

But then the real fun began: the cake smash! This cake smash was extra fun since we ended the session with some milk bath photos. I love milk bath sessions, and they are the perfect accompaniment to a fun cake smash. Especially if you want to add a little holiday cheer to a session!

Unique Cake Smash Theme Ideas for Girls

I have yet to meet a cake smash theme that I don’t like. But I LOVE the theme of these Woburn first birthday photos. I have done a lot of safari/wild animal themes over the years. But more often than not, they’re for boys. So I was extra happy when I heard about the theme idea mom and dad had. Baby girl’s middle name means “lioness” which was where the theme idea came from. I absolutely adore the idea of using a name meaning to come up with a theme. It’s extra special, and little Miss E will forever have these lion themed photos with so much meaning. Mom specifically mentioned “boho safari” as a keyphrase for this theme and I think we nailed it. There is still so much simplicity and feminine vibes (other things mom mentioned) while still sticking to the safari/jungle theme. I love the way that the green leaves pop against the different shades of pink balloons.

If you’re looking for a unique theme for your baby girl’s cake smash–don’t be afraid to think out of the box. So often we lump certain themes into being for boys or for girls, but the truth is there should be no gender requirements for celebrations!
