Christmas Card Photos Southern NH
These families came to my studio near Southern NH for their child and family photos for Christmas cards. Christmas and holiday cards are a tradition, and they’re also a great reason to get family photos taken. Not only can they be fun and festive, but they’re also a great way to watch your little ones grow. It’s easy to get too busy for things like family photos. Before you know it a year has gone by and you haven’t taken one family photo. Well, now you have the perfect excuse! Taking family portraits for holiday cards each year is the perfect excuse to get a stunning photo of the whole family. I have families that come back every year for their portraits, and I’m always thrilled to see how much the little ones have grown over the course of the year.
Styling Ideas for these Southern NH Holiday Card Photos
The great thing about getting portraits taken for holiday cards is that you can’t really go wrong with styling them. Sure, you can go cozy and warm in pajamas, or fancy in formalwear. But you can also go with more timeless and neutral clothing. My number one tip when it comes to styling any family photos is make sure everyone is comfortable. We are able to keep the temperature controlled in the studio (unlike photos taken outdoors) but layers are still always a good idea. It’s hard for anyone to be happy and comfortable if they’re too cold or too warm, especially kids. The best smiles happen when everyone is comfy and happy.

I’ve been photographing this family since big brother was a newborn! I photographed him again for his 6 month and one year photos. And then I got to “meet” little brother for the first time while he was in mommy’s tummy. You can check out her maternity post here. I love getting to see this family again and again!
This is a great example of how not everyone wants holiday themed styling for their photos!I love the subtlety of this family’s styling choices. Mom’s white knit sweater is cozy and perfect for winter. The faded red of dad’s shirt matches the red detailing on both big sister’s dress and baby brother’s shirt. Perfect for the holidays while still being timeless.
Displaying Your Holiday Portraits Year Round
One of the greatest things about these holiday portraits is that your little ones are in their prettiest, and sometimes fanciest, clothing. Since these photos are Christmas card ready, that also means they are the perfect choice for displaying in your home! If you’re worried about the portraits being too holiday-themed, you can take inspiration from some of the families in this blog post. Christmas cards don’t always need to have Christmas pajamas or Santa Claus hats (although I do really love when they do!). Sweet coordinating outfits from somewhere like Janie and Jack or Boden are the perfect choice.
And after your session is over, let me help you choose the best wall art for you. Whether that means a single canvas, or a gallery of framed artwork, or anything in between. I can make you a wall art mock-up using your photos on your walls. No more guessing how things will look! Here’s an example of a framed artwork wall gallery using photos from one of these Southern NH Christmas card portrait sessions.
