Autumn in New England :: Family Portraits
Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year in New England. The fall foliage is so well known that people drive from all over to go leaf peeping. And we are lucky enough to take full advantage of the gorgeous autumn weather and fall foliage for outdoor family portraits! Everything about fall is pretty and cozy. From the colors of nature, to the fantastic fall fashion, to the crisp autumn air. It doesn’t get much better than autumn in New England!
I met up with this beautiful family from Salem NH last October for their outdoor fall family portraits. The entire family was so sweet. And seriously, how adorable are these girls? They could both be models!
Styling for this Fall Family Photo Session
One of my absolute favorite fall colors is burnt orange. And if I didn’t already love it, these photos would be enough reason to start loving it. Both mom and dad are in shades of burnt orange and even though they aren’t the exact same shade, they work perfectly together. Big sister’s lace top and black pants match baby sister’s black and white checkered dress. And the contrast of the brown fur against the white lace adds the perfect visual interest.
It might be subtle, but I’m also loving how dad’s plaid shirt peeking out from his sweater mimics baby girl’s checked dress. These are tiny details that you might not notice right away, but they all work to make the overall styling cohesive.
