Boston Cake Smash photographer :: Mr. M’s Spaceship Cake Smash
Mr. M and his family came to my studio from Boston to celebrate his first birthday, and it was out of this world! (Get it??)
This wasn’t my first time meeting Mr. M and his family. I had actually first “met” him while he was still in his mama’s belly! I then met him again as a newborn (click here to see his newborn photos). Getting to see these littles and how much they grow is incredible for me. There are so many changes over the course of the first year of life, and I’m always honored that parents trust me to capture all of these changes. By the time a baby turns one, their personality has already started to form and many times you’re able to see that personality reflected in their portraits. In Mr. M’s case, that meant being super smiley throughout the session. And he definitely has a great smile!
Incorporating a Theme into a Session
Incorporating a theme into a cake smash can be pretty easy. Because by definition cake smash sessions tend to be more fun and whimsical than a lot of other types of sessions. There are also so many different options for themes. For Mr. M, the requested theme was outer space and spaceships. This was a new theme for me, and I’m absolutely loving it. These spaceship and planet decals were a perfect backdrop. And his cake matched the orange spaceship perfectly! These little details can make a huge difference when it comes to themes!
Because of the general fun and whimsy quality of cake smash sessions, I’ve had a lot of themed cake smash sessions over the years. But they’re definitely becoming more popular, which I am thrilled about. I love a good challenge!
