One of the things I love most about photographing babies during their first year is documenting milestones that are deeply meaningful to each family. While many parents think first about newborn sessions or first birthday portraits, another beautiful milestone worth celebrating is the 100 day baby celebration. This studio session featured sweet baby L and her family, who came from Cambridge to celebrate this special occasion with timeless portraits documenting her first one hundred days of life with infant photos.

As a Cambridge infant photographer, these milestone sessions have become some of my favorite portraits to create.

Why 100 Day Baby Milestone Sessions Are So Special

For many families, reaching one hundred days is an important milestone worth documenting. Historically, surviving the earliest months of infancy carried enormous significance, and many families continue celebrating this tradition today as a way of honoring family customs while preserving memories from an incredibly fleeting stage.

At around three months old, babies are beginning to become much more expressive. Their personalities start emerging, eye contact becomes stronger, and many babies are beginning to smile socially. That makes this age absolutely perfect for milestone portraits.

Sweet Baby Portraits at Three Months Old

Baby L was an absolute joy during her session. She was calm, expressive, and wonderfully curious throughout the entire shoot. We photographed several different setups and outfits, allowing us to capture a variety of expressions and simple timeless portraits that really kept the focus where it belongs: on baby.

Some of my favorite images came while she was happily kicking on her back, showing off those wonderful little expressions that parents know so well at this age. We also spent time photographing her during tummy time poses, where she stayed alert and watched everything happening around her with such sweet curiosity.

Family Portraits That Tell The Whole Story

In addition to solo baby portraits, we also made time for family photographs. I always encourage parents to step into milestone sessions whenever possible. Babies change so quickly during the first year, and these early portraits together often become some of the most meaningful photographs families keep long term.

For this session, we captured beautiful portraits with mom and dad as well as a special extended family portrait including grandmother. I especially love including grandparents whenever possible. Multi-generational portraits preserve family history in a way that becomes more valuable with every passing year.
