Happy second birthday to Miss N! I have known this uber adorable toddler since before she was even born. I was photographing her big brother and Mama was pregnant with her at the time. To watch her literally growing up before my lens has been one of the coolest parts of my job. Not that I think classifying my job as a baby and children’s photographer really should be labeled as a “job.” If there is one piece of advice I can give to just about anyone, it is to find your passion in life and find a way to do it, each and every day. I made that decision nearly 10 years ago after quitting my day job, moving to Paris and pursuing my master’s degree in photography. At the time I had no way of knowing I would one day be running Crabapple Photography. Or that I’d get to meet this little one and make a very real connection with her family.
Two year old N is so very loved. On this day we were celebrating her second year on earth. I particularly love this very first photo of her standing on her own, but not quite ready to let go of Mama’s hand. I love the magical fairy and bubbles photographs we captured. Because I think there should be a little bit of magic to childhood. And I also love the portrait where she is looking right at us, with a “I will own the world one day” look in her eyes. I am a believer that not all photos should be smiling ones. I believe smiles are contagious and laughter is the best medicine. But we don’t smile 24 hours a day. Childhood should have magic but there are serious times as well. Serious moments where she is learning and figuring out the world around her.
Happy birthday N!!!!
