Hi, I’m Kate McKenna, the photographer, artist, and dedicated wrangler of tiny humans behind Crabapple Photography. Since opening my boutique photography studio in 2009, I have specialized in luxury newborn, maternity, baby, toddler, and family photography, capturing everything from sleepy newborn yawns to shy toddlers finding their confidence one smile at a time. I have had the joy of photographing more than a thousand families from Boston, the North Shore, Southern New Hampshire, and even Maine. Sixteen Years of Experience, and a Little Chaos
In 2013, my life changed forever when I became mom to twins. They turned my world upside down in the best possible way and gave me superpowers like multitasking and the ability to survive on very little sleep. Becoming a working mom made me a better photographer because it taught me the art of waiting. I’ve learned to slow down and anticipate the moment. I never rush a shy toddler or a sleepy newborn. In 2017, I moved my studio from Medford to my current cozy, fully stocked space in Andover. It is a place where creativity and baby giggles collide. Families from Greater Boston including Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, and beyond come here for portraits that are as timeless as they are a little bit magical.
