If you are looking for ideas and inspiration for truly classic newborn photos for your boys, look no further than the color blue! Blue has been synonymous with baby boys for ages now. Which does make it the perfect color choice for your newborn portraits of your little man. And the greatest thing about going blue for baby photos is that there are truly so many different options. If your worry is about variety, I am here to tell you it is absolutely possible to choose one color to focus on and still have a very varied gallery.

Creating Variety While Using Blue for Newborn Photos

There are numerous ways to create variety while using blue in newborn photos. For one thing, there are so many different shades of blue. Sweet, light baby blue. True medium blue. And darker navy blue. Plus so many shades in between. And each shade is as classic and timeless as the last. Another great way to add a lot of variety is by switching up where the blue is coming from. Blue backgrounds are one option. Typically for newborn photos the background is a soft blanket, and I have blankets in numerous shades you can see below. There is also the option of having a backdrop of seamless paper, which I typically use in cake smash and family photos but is always an option, too.

Using Props and Accessories

Since I have so many different accessories and props to choose from, of course I have plenty of blue options for newborn photos as well. This is a great way to incorporate blue as a pop of color even if you’re not looking to commit fully to blue as a whole. A blue knit hat, a swaddle, or a chunky knit blanket are all a great option for adding just a tiny touch of blue. Blue pairs perfectly with whites and grays for a complete color palette!
