Including Your Family Pet In Your Portrait Session
Pets are definitely part of the family. And at Crabapple Photography we truly do believe that! Which is why we always love when families bring along their pets to include in their newborn, baby, or family portraits. Over the years we have had quite a few dogs in the studio. And we’ve even had a cat! That was definitely something new for me, and something I wasn’t entirely sure would work. But this kitty nailed it! And as someone who has had cats before, I can definitely understand wanting to include your feline friend.
I’ve had families include their dogs in everything from maternity photos to cake smash sessions. But I have to say, I always have a soft spot for featuring dogs in newborn portrait sessions. Maybe it’s because these pups are so often baby’s protectors, friends, and big siblings. But there is something so special about getting to take a photo of the entire family, fur-sibling and all!

It would be basically impossible for my staff and I to choose a single favorite furry friend that has visited the studio. There are just too many amazing choices to pick just one! And each pup (or kitty!) was adorable and sometimes hilarious in their own way. My staff in the back offices especially love when the pups sniff their way back there to visit with them. So instead of choosing favorites, we have decided to share an assortment with you. This way you can decide for yourself which pet photo is your favorite.
If you have a furbaby that is fully part of the family that you want to include in your family, maternity, or baby portrait session, let me know. All we ask is that your pet be trained and safe to be around strangers. We are happy to accommodate–and happy to play with a pup during your session.
