This family is stunning, there’s no doubt about that. Their spirt and kindness prove they are as equally beautiful on the inside.
They are from Boise and were in Boston this past fall for just a few short days. They were tourists, yes. But that’s not the original reason for the visit. They were spending a lot of their trip at Boston Children’s Hospital for the second time in 6 months. Their son was not getting the care he needed at their local hospitals so they took matters in to their own hands.

As a parent, I think one of the worst kinds of pain you can feel is feeling helpless with a sick child and no answers. They credit Boston for saving their son’s life and bringing peace to their family for the first time in years. Mom wanted to capture family photos in the city they now feel deeply connected to. I could not have been more honored to make this happen. What better place than Acorn St in Beacon Hill, and the Boston Public Garden?
Acorn Street in Boston is a very popular place for portraits. It is so beautiful with it’s cobblestone street, perfectly manicured window boxes and revolutionary war style. Every time I am there with a family for portraits there is a bit of a waiting game while the tourists take their own portraits and move on. It is always worth it though. The first family portrait below is one of my all time favorite Acorn Street photos though. It doesn’t hurt that the subjects are gorgeous!
I feel so lucky to have met this family and heard their story. I also could not feel more proud, or more lucky, to have some of the best hospitals in the world, right here in our back yard.
