There is nothing quite like smashing a cake with abandon! At least, that’s what I gather from the babies I watch who do so. When it came to Baby D and her first birthday cake smash, mom warned me that Baby D would likely stick a finger in the cake and that would be about the extent of it. I was prepared for this. What I wasn’t prepared for was her digging both hands deep into the cake within 3 seconds of it being in front of her! I really do love my job, I don’t think I stopped laughing the entire time I was photographing! You have to see it to believe it:

We took some time before bringing out the cake to get some first birthday photos (without the mess!). Baby D is a gorgeous baby and was a blast to photograph! On the right, she is exploring her tutu – a bit foreign!
