The Importance of Photos with Dad

Father’s Day is right around the corner which means now is the perfect time to talk about one of my favorite topics: photos of dads and their kids! So often the kids are the center of attention, especially during photo shoots. So here are some reasons why you should make sure to get some family portraits of your kids and their dad!

Happy Father's Day Portraits

1. Family Keepsakes

This could be given as a reason to get just about any portrait, but it’s so important and so true that I’ll keep saying it for them all. Portraits are such a great family keepsake. They last for generations and generations. And in this day when so many things are instant and digital, it’s so important to have certain things that are real, tangible, and able to last. Portraits are a perfect family keepsake. Not only is this a great gift for dad now, but for your kids as well. They will forever have these photos with their dad.

There are so many different options when it comes to portrait keepsakes. For Father’s Day this year consider ordering the dad in your life a desktop print he can display on his desk at the office. Wall art for your home is always a great option. Not only will it make dad smile every time he sees the photos of him and his kids, but your kiddos will love seeing themselves, too. Accordion albums are perfect for dads that travel, he can take his art on the road with him. And storyboards are a fun option to display numerous portraits together.

2. That Father/Son or Father/Daughter Bond

The bond between father and daughter or father and son is such an important one. And it only grows more important as kids grow older. Portraits of your husband with your children are a great way to not only capture the beauty of that bond, but a photo session is also a perfect way to acknowledge it and maybe even make it grow. Many parents have photos of them with their tiny baby, which is important. But it’s also important to continue capturing that bond as those babies become toddlers, and big kids, and teens.

3. Celebrate Dad

Becoming a father is such a life altering event. Not only is a baby born, but a father is made, too. Portraits are a great way to celebrate the importance of this new role. And it’s also a great way to continue to celebrate that role. As your child grows, so does their dad. We all continue to celebrate our children’s milestones, we should be celebrating our milestones as parents, too. Read more about Father’s Day photos here.

4. A Great Gift (for the man who has everything)

Okay, this one is less sentimental, but just as realistic. Sometimes Father’s Day gifts can be hard. Your partner might go out and buy himself all the gadgets he needs (or wants) which can make it hard to find that perfect gift. For this year’s Father’s Day gift, book a portrait session for the dad in your life and his kids. Not only will he love them, so will you! It’s a win-win.
