Happy Halloween from Crabapple Photography 2016

[ Just a quick note to say Happy Halloween 2016 ]

For the first year of my girls lives I did complete, full photoshoots for them every single month. It was slightly extreme! But I’m glad I did it because those photos are invaluable. I feel that way now and they are only 3. I can only imagine in 3 more years, or 13 more years how I will feel (hint: very grateful to have them!). As young toddlers it become somewhat more difficult to get them to cooperate. That last statement is basically a general blanket statement for most young toddlers in general, ha! But when they are your own, it makes it even more difficult. We continued to do our holiday portraits, once a year family portraits and then at least (ok probably more) a summer shoot.

There are some photographers who find their passion for photography because they pick up a camera one day and start photographing their kids. That was never the case for me. I’ve had a photography fire lit under me since college and started Crabapple Photography well before the girls were even born. Clearly, I love photography. But sometimes picking up my camera to document the day to day became a chore, especially with unwilling participants. Over the past year or so I’ve noticed a shift in my lady babies and their willingness to get in front of my camera. When I mention we may go to the studio for a session, I can hardly contain them from bursting out of the house that second! They run to the studio and it makes me unbelievably happy to see them having so much fun. They play with all of the props and wear the fun dress up clothes. Usually there is a bottle of water and some kind of Goldfish treat at the end of the rainbow too, which certainly does not hurt … 🙂

I’ve been sent some gorgeous headwear pieces by The Headband Atelier recently and the girls have been my little models. It’s a true collaboration! The feeling I get when I look at beautiful portraits of my girls … I don’t know. It’s an unmatched feeling and generally brings me to tears, I have to admit.

Here they are modeling The Headband Atelier’s fun Halloween mask and wand as well as general gorgeous Halloween-ness 🙂
