Arlington MA Pregnancy Photos :: Mom-to-be T
Maternity photography is all about celebrating the joy and excitement of pregnancy. This is why I absolutely adore capturing maternity portraits. Mom-to-be T came to my studio from her home in Arlington, MA for her pregnancy photos. This was my first time meeting these sweet expectant parents, but I have seen them a few more times since these photos were taken. I met their little one for his newborn photos and just recently shot his first birthday photos. Not only that, but I also got to see him for two separate mini sessions. Outdoor family photos in the fall, one of my favorite and most popular sessions, and also this past Valentine’s Day.
For the photos with mom and dad, the styling was kept cozy. I love the way mom’s sweater dress photographs. But we also got a little glam. I have a large collection of maternity gowns from Sew Trendy Accessories that are available during any maternity session.
Using Sentimental Props During Maternity Photo Sessions
When it comes to any photoshoot, props and accessories are a great way to make the session personal. Ask anyone who has been in my photography studio over the years and they will tell you that I have a lot of props. And I mean a lot! But, sometimes the best props aren’t the fancy ones but the ones that are sentimental.
For T’s maternity photos, I incorporated not one, but two sentimental props into the portraits. One is the belt from T’s wedding dress. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a mom bring along something from her wedding to incorporate, and every time I love the idea. We wrapped the beautiful belt around her belly and I know this photo will be one to cherish.
The other prop mom and dad brought along was this stuffed panda bear. Not only did this bear make an appearance during the maternity photos, but panda bears have been a recurring theme throughout baby’s portraits. First maternity, then newborn, and most recently his first year photos. A fun and thoughtful idea!

Maternity photos are such a gift to have. Imagine having a photo of your grandmother while she was pregnant with your father. That would be so amazing to have! And we are so lucky that we live in an age where it is so easy to share information and photographs digitally. The tricky part can come after the session, when you’re trying to decide what to do with your beautiful images. What size should you get? Which photo will look best in your living space? Check out a sample mock-up from this session. While in this case we used a sample living room, this shows how your mock up will look. You would send us a photo of your own walls and rooms, and we would show you how your photos would look. These are a great option since you’re seeing YOUR art on YOUR wall. This takes all the guessing out of the equation.
