I have also met those who are becoming Dad’s for the second time and those who are veteran Dad’s. Meet gorgeous newborn baby boy Mason. I’m pretty sure my heart melted on more than one occasion while choosing the images for this blog post! Things were touch and go in the beginning of our portrait session, trying to get baby Mason into a deep sleep. But the wait was well worth it! I’ve said it before and I will definitely say it again — I love my job as a newborn portrait photographer. A newborn session can be one of the hardest types there are, but I truly enjoy every single moment. And knowing that his Mom and Dad will have these special infant baby photos for the rest of his life warms my heart as well. The first two weeks of a newborn’s life fly by, your baby changes so quickly, he will never look the same! Check out Mr. Snuggly in an adorable owl hat:

Having a newborn portrait photographer in the family has it’s benefits! When my sister-in-law announced she was expecting baby #2, it was a no brainer that I would be photographing the newest member of my family. This newest little member turned out to be baby girl Violet, and what a beauty she is! Shortly after her (rather abrupt) arrival in early April, LG and I took a trip to DC to meet Violet and congratulate her Mom, Dad and older brother Cameron. She was absolutely perfect in every way! It just so happens that Violet’s front yard was full of her namesake flower! Somewhat out of character, it was a balmy 80 degrees that day so we took advantage and went outside:

(L) Seasonally, DC is a few weeks ahead of us here in Boston. It was wonderful to see all the spring time growth happening down there. (R) Nothing like a brand new baby to really get in the mood of spring and new growth!

Sigh … meet Emma. Emma is an absolute cherub. Thanks Mom Amy & Dad Paul for sharing her for a brief moment. I headed over to Amy’s childhood home in Andover, MA for this shoot and to meet the pretty little lady. The house was full of charm and family history which made for interesting “sets.” I don’t think Dad was too psyched to see Emma in a basket, but he humored us none the less.

Miss Kayla, welcome to the world, we needed more beauties like you among us! Born March 29, 2009 I photographed Kayla and her glowing new Mom Hilary 3 weeks later.

Kayla is already a great baby. In fact at times she closely resembled a cherub.

Babies have such amazing raw emotion.
