Check out Baby girl M’s cute one year old portraits. Sophie the giraffe has always had a big presence in the studio. This toy giraffe has saved my butt on more than one occasion. Well, Baby M had her own Sophie at the shoot. At one point she was wielding TWO Sophies and loving every second of it!  We ended the session with some fun-with-balloons time (she loved them). Enjoy!

Babies can have their moments. After all, they’re babies. They’re growing, they’re teething, they can’t tell us they’re hungry, tired or have a full diaper.  Being called a baby is not an insult to a middle schooler for no reason. Babies can be unpredictable … happy one second, cranky the next.  This is totally normal, I’ve seen it all.  It’s my job to be able to capture moments in the middle of the chaos.  Baby W was not feeling it on this particular day.  I can’t blame him. I try to put myself in my clients (teeny tiny) shoes, “would I be psyched to be here right now while I feel like this”!?  We still managed to get some really, in my opinion, A-dorable smiley shots!  I got to see Wes again last week for a Christmas themed session and I am in love with this child. Happy, cranky – he’s amazing to photograph and I feel lucky to have him as a year long subject!

Longgggggg story short, meet baby W! This tiny baby boy is in fact the baby of a friend from High School I haven’t seen in years. She was home for a friends wedding (that I just happened to photograph as well!) and contacted me for some newborn portraits.  I was psyched. I headed to Chelmsford in the beginning of July and we captured some really cute shots.  Mom + Dad are into organic + locally grown food. Make sure you scroll to the bottom to see how we incorporated that into the session. It involves: a baby + a basket + tomato plants.  Enjoy!

We took some time before bringing out the cake to get some first birthday photos (without the mess!).  Baby D is a gorgeous baby and was a blast to photograph!  On the right, she is exploring her tutu – a bit foreign!

Fast forward only a few days and enter photographer Korri Leigh Crowley and her adorable 6 month old son, Teddy.  As a photographer with a baby, Korri no doubt has already accrued hundreds of baby photos of Teddy in his short 6 months of life (most notably these photos, check ‘em out!).  But sadly, she doesn’t have a ton of family photos of her and Teddy.  So she contacted me to fix her distinct ‘lack of photo’ situation. That’s what I would like to think of myself as – someone who fixes a situation in which there is a lack of good photography in your life!

I suppose my Grandmother was a little girl in the 1920′s, but for some reason I saw this carriage as channeling the (late 50′s early) 1960′s. So naturally, I asked Korri if she had any appropriate clothing and not so naturally, she did! She geared up in her high heeled saddle shoes, pill box hat and gloves, pearls, and gray wool skirt to create the look.

6 month old baby Teddy was dressed in the most adorable little suit complete with black velvet vest, and plaid flannel pants that are unfortunately hidden in these shots.

Although the buggy shots were amazingly fun, we did manage to get some other baby portraits taken while in the studio.  Can you stand that face!? What a happy little baby boy.

I headed up to Kennebunk for this family photo session.  There were three adorable + rambunctious kids, cute hats, tutu’s, piles of leaves, pumpkins, matching dresses, gorgeous fall foliage … so many amazing photo opportunities!  These three kids were no strangers to my lens. I had been up in Kennebunk for the youngest’s newborn photos about year before.

So let’s see if I can give you a taste of each of the things I listed above, in that order! Starting with “three adorable + rambunctious kids” (and their mama):

Thank God for little girl babies in tutu’s.  Her solo shots away from her siblings, this was little Cate’s time to shine in her 1 year old portraits!  She had a blast exploring the tutu and stumbling around … most of the time with the cutest, infectious smile plastered across her face.

PILES OF LEAVES! Well, one very special pile of leaves collected from neighbors and friends yards for this very purpose:

Their mom had me create a storyboard of the “jumping in leaves” series and I thought you might like to check it out. If you’re interested in a creative way to display your photos from our session, I would highly suggest going this route. Here is a blog post with some information on storyboards.

You’ve seen the matching dresses and gorgeous fall foliage already, so I thought I’d share a set of sisterly love photos with you instead.  This is a shot of the two sisters about a year before for Cate’s newborn photos:

I mean, really. Look at those eyes and smile!  Melt.  She, her mom and I hit a nearby park in Brookline, MA for a few baby photos.  This little one is a really fun baby. Very inquisitive and involved with what’s going on around her.

Here she is hangin in her crib, playing with her musical mobile.  Very active!

The Boston Common is a fantastic place for family photos.  Clearly this is no secret because the day we were there I must have seen at least 4 other various photo shoots happening!  Here is a family portrait photo (R) as well as a cute moment between Mom + Luca (L):

Especially to all of those new dads out there, congratulations on your first father’s day!

This shoot, however, was an extra special one. The photos from this shoot would become part of a Save the Date card I would create for Tricia and Scott’s upcoming nuptials! Congrats again!  The pair is getting married on the coveted date of 10-10-10 up in beautiful Maine.  On the Save the Date card, they wanted to include the date somehow, and of course, Baby James!  There were some pretty incredible outtakes.  Here he is, gnawing on a chalkboard and looking adorable doing it:

A common theme of the day was James trying to eat everything (L).  James was quick ripping it off, but I did manage to get one with the top hat on! (R)
