A Glowing Review

I love the anticipation of a photo shoot. I love the actual photo session. I love viewing the images for the first time on my monitor. I love seeing the final image edits after hours of editing and retouching.

But I LOVE hearing the reaction from clients after they’ve seen their photos.  I get this insane rush and am practically giddy with delight! I’m like a proud parent who’s 4th grader won the science fair.

This email from Colleen was recently delivered to my inbox.  Talk about tears! I was practically in my own tears just reading this:

“The photos are truly outstanding!! You have captured Alexandra on such a beautiful level that we could have never imagined! I must tell you I was in tears when I first saw them. We absolutely love them, and it will be difficult selection for us to make. Even the photos that I initially though she was a little fidgety, they turned out to be SO beautiful!”

Most photographers would agree that there is a piece of themselves in every photo they take.  You’re putting yourself out there with every photo and saying “ok, judge me.”  The clients, too, are sharing themselves and putting their trust in your hands (camera/eye).  I know I’m beating a dead horse here so needless to say- it’s a gratifying feeling to have someone love the photos you’ve taken for them!

Colleen’s family photography session will be posted this week, so stay tuned. But here is a sneak peek (and the Valentine’s Day post was a sneak peek as well!) of our session:

UPDATE: The photos have been uploaded! Head over to the baby photos here to see the beautiful Al.

Rock ‘n Roll Bride Features Us!

My fiancé LG & I decided to make our own Save the Dates.  The ones you see everywhere were feeling … uninspired. For whatever reason, cupcakes have had a major roll in our relationship starting early on. We even started a now defunct blog rating Boston area bakeries, deli’s, supermarkets- anyone that sold a cupcake.  Needless to say, our review of local cupcake makers may have gone by the wayside, our love and love of cupcakes in general has not.

I certainly love them and was PSYCHED to hear that Kat from Rock ‘n Roll Bride thought so too! She featured us on the blog today. Go here to read it and feel free to leave comments: http://www.rocknrollbride.com/2010/02/save-the-cupcakes/.  Below are some screen shots of the post:

I submitted about 22 or so of our “out takes.” My favorite, and the most popular one being of LG holding (presenting) a pan of cupcakes, while our cat, Monsieur L’Orange chills.

That crazy cat: he wants the cupcakes but has to assume an air of indifference…..so difficult to be a cat, really……

And yet- he probably drank out of the toilet a mere 10 minutes later.

[...] the fantastic feedback we received from the Save the Date cards I made, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling pressure to create equally creative [...]

Introducing Sweet Tooth Boudoir

Introducing Sweet Tooth Boudoir Photography! Just what the $!@K is boudoir photography? The brand new shiny site has a frequently asked questions section definining boudoir, but basically it’s *tasteful,* romantic & intimate photography taken in a bedroom setting … although not always.

There are LOTS of reasons and occasions for boudoir photography, the most popular reason being boudoir albums make fantastic gifts.  Albums make wonderful gifts for your partners birthday, Valentine’s day, Christmas or other holiday gift.  A romantic way to show your partner a peek into your passionate side is to give them a boudoir album on the day of your wedding as a surprise. Wedding boudoir is on the rise and it is fan-tastic.

The experience of boudoir photography can be very rewarding. It’s amazing to see the transformation of a woman throughout the session. She is often a little nervous and most likely self conscious.  But as the session goes on she gains confidence and absolutely embraces her beauty!

If you’ve got more questions or want to check out more info, please visit sweettoothboudoir.com and feel free to contact me!

2 Triptychs and a Diptych :: Boston Portraiture

I recently (on separate occasions) had to opportunity to photograph two confident, beautiful women.  Based on the overwhelming amount of _____ in the photos, you might be able to guess the occupation of Lori, the woman in the first set of photos!
Heather and I decided to do a shoot together after I realized I’ve never shot her – a rarity among my good friends.  We had a ton of fun shooting.  Heather is hysterical, fun and up for just about anything!  I was truly impressed by her ease in front of the lens … much better than my own certainly.   I’d say about 90% of the photos taken were of her smiling and / or hysterically laughing. It just so happens I chose the few where that is not the case. What can I say?
Here she is, doing her fierce:
The top two triptychs are indeed meant to be together while these two bottom photos I put together for space/blog reasons. On the softer side portrait photography:
Love you Heather!

Lori has awesome hair, and unless she is a hair model (do they exist?) I didn't guess her occupation.

You are so close ….
