Storyboards are a fantastic way to tell a story with your images. A photo storyboard is a well designed collage of your photos, printed together to make one image. They can be printed on high quality photo paper, or made into a fine art canvas gallery wrap.

My LOVE Wedding Invitations

After the fantastic feedback we received from the Save the Date cards I made, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling pressure to create equally creative wedding invitations. Obviously this was self imposed and only resulted in a MAJOR design block. For like, months. My angst was mostly centered around the RSVP card. Who knew it would be so hard to design for myself!? After a ton of printing option and design research, I thought I’d share what I came up with for my wedding invitation design.

All it takes is one little spark, and I got mine after seeing scrabble pieces that spelled out “love.” I created 4 cards, each one with the letter L, O, V or E. E! E is for Eads (new last name)! It was perfect for us. On the other side of the L card was the wedding invitation verbiage, with the bonfire verbiage on the opposite side of the O. The V had detailed directions and the E was perfect for the RSVP card. I finished it up with a scroll that linked all 4 letter cards when lined up (and a bird on a wire, cause who doesn’t love a bird on a wire?). (TL) Back of the program, with our wedding rings strategically placed. (TR) All seats had a card explaning our donation to Stand Up To Cancer. (BL+R) Every guest got a custom made seating card – including LG and I. I wasn’t quite ready to be Kate Eads, so I went ahead and gave myself both names!

Happy May everyone! I don’t know about you, but May is my favorite month (my birthday, the month I got engaged, the GORGEOUS weather after the loooooonnnng winter … ).

This spring I’m introducing a great new product. Next time you’re looking to print your images, consider this idea. This print allows you to display 16 photos in a square format (I can do 10 inch by 10 inch, 11×11, 12×12, 20×20). It’s an affordable way to display many of your session photos in a classy way!

Baby Birth Announcement :: Newborn Photos

I started out as a graphic designer so I jump at any and all opportunities to create graphics. I write that as if I’m not constantly creating graphics … but this is different! Newborn baby announcements are special. Everyone who knows the proud parents is dying for a photo and information about this new bundle of joy. Personalized photo baby announcements go a long way, especially when friends and family are scattered around the country or world and cannot visit.

Of course in my opinion, professional photography of your newborn is what makes or breaks an announcement (biased much?) but think about it- this little human you’ve brought into the world will only be this little and have these attributes for literally days. Why not document it?

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, but who is this beauty?” you are perhaps asking. This is Catherine who’s newborn photos I shot back in October. She is a rockin’ little baby and absolutely gorgeous.

Rock ‘n Roll Bride Features Us!

My fiancé LG & I decided to make our own Save the Dates. The ones you see everywhere were feeling … uninspired. For whatever reason, cupcakes have had a major roll in our relationship starting early on. We even started a now defunct blog rating Boston area bakeries, deli’s, supermarkets- anyone that sold a cupcake. Needless to say, our review of local cupcake makers may have gone by the wayside, our love and love of cupcakes in general has not.

I submitted about 22 or so of our “out takes.” My favorite, and the most popular one being of LG holding (presenting) a pan of cupcakes, while our cat, Monsieur L’Orange chills.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Nothing’s cuter than a baby in a Santa suit! Well, maybe two babies in festive gear is cuter. But very little else. These two tikes suited up for overlapping studio portraiture sessions. James, on the left, couldn’t quite sit on his own, but not to worry! We have a cure for that in the shape of an adorable gift wrapped box. He did sit up about a week later, his mother reported back

On a separate baby photo session, TJ played the part, and played it well. Here he is, chillin’ as Baby Claus. I laugh out loud every time I look at the photo on the right! He looks like he’s about to break into a festive rap “Yo yo yo, merry Christmas y’all it’s DJ TJ!”

And then there was Kayla as Baby Mrs. Claus. I suppose a shoe in the mouth should be an outtake, but I L.O.V.E. it! It’s what babies do. She is truly a happy, happy baby. It did not take much to get this little princess to smile for her Christmas studio portraits!

Jamesy is the perfect example of ‘good things come in small packages’. You might remember James from a previous baby photos post. Love watching kids grow up.

This year I had a lot of fun designing Christmas cards and was psyched to see them printed. I am a huge fan of printing on the cheap, but there was a noticeable difference in quality from what you might find from a retail online printing company. The card stock was much thicker, crystal clear printing and no disgusting over-the-top GLOSS! I did print a semi gloss which was quite nice. But remember, I shouldn’t be able to see my own reflection in your Christmas card, so take it easy with the gloss.
