Baby girl A was a dream to photograph! She was sleepy + snuggly. Her and her family traveled from nearby Arlington, Massachusetts for her newborn portraits, taken within days of her birth. I am particularly in love with this little newborn’s lips – so perfect! Especially in this first photo with such an adorable brown hat and over sized pink bow. She even gave us a little smile – check out the last photo if you want your heart broken into pieces in 1.5 seconds – too cute! Baby A’s parents are doing a baby plan package so I’ve been lucky enough to see her for some 3 month photos (coming to the blog soon) and will see her again for 6 months (can’t wait!) and again for her 1st birthday.

Meet baby boy D! What a snuggler. He and his parents traveled from Dracut to the Medford studio to capture these newborn portraits. This stage in a baby’s life is over in an instant. Almost literally. One of my favorite shots (ever) is to get a newborn baby’s head in Mom or Dad’s hands. As a baby grows, it’s easy to forget just how small they are. Parents of baby #2 often make the remark that they had completely forgotten how small a days old baby is. In my newborn portraits, unless there is a context, it’s hard to gauge their size. So! Adding in Mom or Dad’s hands as context is perfect. And baby D was amazing to let us get the shot. And of course I’m a sucker for a yawning baby shot:

Fitting I should just be posting this gorgeous baby girl’s newborn portraits, seeing as though I shot her six month photos three days ago. I am happy to report this baby does in fact, retain her absolute adorableness! She will be hitting the blog again … definitely a lot faster this time around!

Back to her newborn photo session – this first photo is one of my all time favorite newborn portraits. I love the dark and medium woods, the vintage vibe, the white fur blanket … and the uber snuggle-y baby. She was a great little subject. She actually lost her umbilical cord during the session! That was a first and hasn’t happened since. I’m just glad Dad was holding her at the time, and not me, ha!

Ugh I could just eat baby A up!! She was so deliciously sleepy and fun to work with during her newborn photo session. She had the longest, dark eye lashes and a pretty significant head of hair on her. I shot these baby newborn portraits back in October so the Christmasy newborn shot is appropriate I was really happy to be able to use the antique pram you see in the first photo (left). I found this (what I think is a doll) pram in the attic of my Great Grandparents house (the house I currently reside in) here in Medford. I suspect it was my Grandmother’s as a child. It is absolutely perfect for newborn portraits! Enjoy:

It’s MARCH! Yes, it’s 6 days into March and I’m just now declaring it. The “photo sessions to be blogged” list is ginormous and only getting bigger. I am still blogging September sessions at this point but am doing my best to get as many up as possible (before I’m a full year behind!).

I took professional newborn photographs of this beautiful baby girl in her Walpole home at the end of September. At 24 days old she was a little older than most newborns I photograph. I know there was a time when I would have thought it ridiculous to call a 24 day old baby “old.” However, I try to stay under 10 days old – this is pretty important. Under ten days old newborns are still able to fall into that dreamy deep sleep that allows for some of the great poses you see.

We did manage to get quite a few adorable photos of baby girl G. Here are just a few, enjoy!

Meet Baby A. What a little charmer! I’m happy and lucky to report that after getting his newborn portraits taken his Mom + Dad decided they loved them so much they wanted to do a year long baby portrait package. I’ve already seen him for his 3 month photos and will see him a few more times this year!

I love a smiling newborn photo as much as the next but I also love a yawning baby. In the first photo below I believe he’s yawning although it looks suspiciously like a scream (most yawing photos do). The reality is, even if he is telling us what’s on his mind, this is how you see your baby’s face for part of the day and is part of life … maybe even more than those rare newborn smiles. Of course when I’m able to capture those smiles, it’s like I won the lottery. And luckily on this day, I was able to. Enjoy!

Snuggly, cuddly and sleepy! 3 words to describe beautiful 10 day old newborn Baby Girl B. She was a dream to photograph. Her family of Mom, Dad and older brother K headed to the photography studio for these special professional newborn photos. Ahhh, the sibling photograph at a newborn photography session. I should rephrase. The sometimes elusive sibling photograph at a newborn photography session. It’s best if newborns are sleeping for their session so sometimes involving a slightly older sibling can be like lighting firecrackers in the studio. However, not this time! Older brother K was a dream! He sat next to the basket she was in, hugged the basket, looked at his baby sister lovingly, and bent down to give her a kiss. All with a perfectly adorable smile on his face … a model, model! Congratulations Mom + Dad on the new addition!

I’ve been waiting to share Jayden’s newborn baby pictures with you! It is not for any particular reason that I have been waiting, except that it’s the fall and Crabapple Photography is absolutely SLA-aamed. But in a good way. Never-the-less, I’m psyched to show you these photos. You might remember the maternity photos incorporating blocks of letters spelling out Jayden’s name. Here are the blocks again, except we can see Jayden this time For these new baby photos, I headed to Lynnfield, Massachusetts. I have a million favorites from this session, but tried my best to keep the post manageable … I hope you like them too.

Meet Baby D-Mac! He is the cutie baby brother to the adorable Baby Girl D. If you follow this photo blog regularly, you may remember her from a very precious 1st birthday cake smash session. Check out Baby Boy’s pink plump little lips! The cutest. Newborn details are some of my favorite photos. This little dude’s hands and feet will never be so small! Look at his tiny little finger nails and knuckles. Not something I would normally ever describe as “cute”, these knuckles are just that. Enjoy!

OMG. Meet baby Cooper. The cuteness of this baby boy lives up to his adorable name. I guess that’s not surprising considering who his older brother is. This family is certainly near and dear to my heart. I have photographed maternity photos, baby #1 since birth, now baby #2, Mom + Dad’s wedding … oh and I’ve known Mom since 7th grade. Always special to photograph friends and their offspring. And always a bit surreal! Get ready for some AWWWWWWing … starting with this adorable newborn portrait of him in a sock monkey hat! AHHHHH! We did manage to get outside, always a treat. Enjoy!

Happy November! I don’t know about you, but that snuck up on me and revealed itself with a vengeance. The only way to feel better about the time flying is to look at pictures that will make me warm and fuzzy inside … Meet Snuggly Baby girl S! This tiny newborn baby girl was so much fun! I headed to Woburn for these newborn portraits. Fabulously, it was July and the weather was cooperating. I love being able to get outdoor shots with newborns, it’s rare. Baby S was a champ, starting with her curled up newborn photos inside, all the way through her session to cocoon photos outside. Enjoy!

Blogging has gotten away from me. I’ve had lulls before, but this is by far the worst stretch! Partly due to the passing of my Grandfather, and partly due to shooting, shooting, shooting and shooting some more! It’s been an incredible summer around Crabapple Photography studios and I’m grateful. But I do love blogging and sharing recent photo sessions so I’m going to attempt get the last 27 sessions and 2 weddings up in a timely manner. I feel like if I go ahead and post that, I’m holding myself accountable to you!

Well, I have to say this is an amazing newborn session to come back to blogging with. Little baby girl D’s newborn photo session is what dreams are made of. She was so sleepy and dreamy and smiley and adorable! Very cooperative, she is one of my all time favorites (OK so that list is quite long, but you get the idea). Her parents found their way to the studio from Arlington for her newborn photos. Enjoy!

Prepare yourself for cuteness overload! Newborn Baby J came in for his portrait session at a wee 10 days old. He was the sweetest little baby boy, sleeping like a champ for most of our photos. This post is photo heavy- there were so many options I couldn’t decide what to share! I love when people bring in props that are particularly important or special to them. In Baby J’s case, his Dad happens to be a police officer. I was psyched to incorporate his hat into the photos, check ‘em out and let me know what you think! Meet snuggly newborn Owen! I melt every time I see this first photo of him with his squishy little cheeks! Baby Owen is baby boy number 2 for this special family who has been featured numerous times on the Crabapple Photography blog. The latest blog post was of Owen’s mama’s maternity photos and big brother Thomas’ 2 year old portraits. Owen was a gem and slept through 99% of our session, allowing us to pose him, put adorable hats on him and even move him around a little. Congratulations again Mom + Dad on your gorgeous new bundle of joy! And he is quite the rock star … scroll all the way to the bottom for proof.

Meet Baby A :: Jamaica Plain Newborn Photographer

Meet precious newborn baby boy A at seven days old. I cannot believe it’s been almost 2 months since this sleepy newborn was in the studio. Two months is a lifetime in newborn years, I’m sure he looks completely different today! What a cutie and super fun to photograph. Although I do have a hat / prop obsession, it’s always great when people bring in props we can use that have some significance and personal history to them. Along with a few other items, his parents brought along a cowboy hat that Dad has worn for years and is easily recognizable by all his friends + family. In fact you may have seen it make an appearance in Mom’s belly photos. I l-o-v-e it!

This adorable little baby boy A will be gracing the pages of this blog for the entire year! He is a part of the complete baby to one year plan. Stay tuned for the next installment: 3 months old! Here he is sporting an adorable aviator hat:

Meet gorgeous newborn baby boy Mason. I’m pretty sure my heart melted on more than one occasion while choosing the images for this blog post! Things were touch and go in the beginning of our portrait session, trying to get baby Mason into a deep sleep. But the wait was well worth it! I’ve said it before and I will definitely say it again — I love my job as a newborn portrait photographer. A newborn session can be one of the hardest types there are, but I truly enjoy every single moment. And knowing that his Mom and Dad will have these special infant baby photos for the rest of his life warms my heart as well. The first two weeks of a newborn’s life fly by, your baby changes so quickly, he will never look the same! Check out Mr. Snuggly in an adorable owl hat:

Newborn Baby Portrait – Baby Girl F

Meet the adorable, squeezable, heart meltingingly cute newborn baby girl F. Her mother’s maternity photo session photos were featured on the blog a mere 4 days ago. Which was the exact timeline from when I saw her parents for their maternity shots and when baby girl F entered the world!

Newborn baby girl F was an absolute dream to photograph. She was oh so sleepy for about 98% of the session. Photo sessions like these really are a collaboration between myself, the parents and of course, the baby (!). But I just want to say a special congratulations and thank you to these new parents for being so creative and to amazing work with! Newborn baby photography can be tough, but sessions like these, and photos like these, are why I love them! Being a newborn portrait photographer really is so rewarding. And here’s why:

Baby F is entering a world of garlic! Her parents eat a lot, and she had a whole lot while her mother was pregnant with her. It seemed only fitting to somehow incorporate it!

Having a newborn portrait photographer in the family has it’s benefits! When my sister-in-law announced she was expecting baby #2, it was a no brainer that I would be photographing the newest member of my family. This newest little member turned out to be baby girl Violet, and what a beauty she is! Shortly after her (rather abrupt) arrival in early April, LG and I took a trip to DC to meet Violet and congratulate her Mom, Dad and older brother Cameron. She was absolutely perfect in every way! Be sure to check out my sister-in-law’s blog Mommy FTW (For The Win) where she shares her child rearing experiences and everyday victories being a Mom.

It just so happens that Violet’s front yard was full of her namesake flower! Somewhat out of character, it was a balmy 80 degrees that day so we took advantage and went outside:

Meet newborn baby boy Dylan! What a precious little dude to photograph and work with. He is the second baby for this family, the first a very fun little girl featured in this fall photo post. There are so many adorable details to document and photograph with a newborn baby. The tiny toes, fingers, feet, eye lashes, lips, toes and the list goes on.
